From Local to Global

Santa Clarita Valley International Program (SCVIP) is a nonprofit organization founded by Carl Boyer, former Mayor of the City of Santa Clarita. The mission and purpose of SCVIP is to shepherd the creation and development of sister city relationships and to establish local and global collaborations that will lead to economic development and greater cultural awareness. Its Sister Cities Program fosters mutually beneficial alliances between the City of Santa Clarita and cities abroad. Through the promotion of international goodwill and cultural understanding, SCVIP aims to connect the community to the rest of the world.

SCVIP seeks to engage the residents of Santa Clarita in a wide variety of activities. Whether your interests lie in sustainable development, economic growth, education, humanitarian aid, arts and culture, or international travel, SCVIP facilitates and participates in a variety of activities such as:

  • Sister Cities
  • Medical Missions
  • Sister Schools
  • Art Contests
  • Scholarships
  • Student Exchanges
  • International Travel

2019 Young Authors and Artists Showcase – “Global Citizens: Resilient Communities”

Students are invited to demonstrate examples/illustrations of resilience in a global context — through art, essay, poetry, or photographs. Resilience refers to how well an individual or community is able to anticipate, adapt and respond to adversity or challenges. How can internationally engaged future leaders help communities respond to the global challenges of the 21st century? In what ways do people-to-people interaction and international experience (not just limited to travel abroad) affect an individual’s or community’s ability to adapt? Click on Programs/Events for more information.
