Students from College of the Canyons traveled to Granada, Nicaragua from June 5-10th, 2013 in a joint effort with the Global Collaboration Project to implement the Nicaragua Water Tank project which provided access to water for a community of about 600 people in Granada. In addition, the student delegation from COC will be delivered school supplies to schools.
Every year, SCVIP hosts a literary and art competition open to students ages 13-18 from Santa Clarita, Tena, and Sariaya. The Santa Clarita showcase offers students an opportunity to submit in three different categories: essay, poetry, and artwork. The winners selected from Santa Clarita’s judging are sent to Washington, DC for international judging in the national Sister Cities International Young Authors and Artists Contest.

SCVIP Sister Cities teamed up with doctors and nurses to aid kids in Ecuador with medical treatment. During these mission trips, a volunteer medical team operates on children with cleft lips and palates and provides general health care check-ups for the children living in the Napo province of Ecuador.
Santa Clarita Sister Cities joined together with Milagros Para Ninos on a mission trip. In addition to the medical mission, volunteers from the City of Santa Clarita visited river village schools in the Amazon rainforest to distribute care packages filled with school supplies and greeting cards made by students at Legacy Academy.
